Who am I and what is K’boche Secours ?

K'boche Secours

What a funny name, isn't it? It's pronounced in french "caboche secours". Caboche means mind, head or brain.

I chose this name for my company because art is therapy. Creating rescues my mind.
The letter "K" is a pun on the pseudonym I use in the virtual world (Kaelyz) and the nickname associated with it (Kaelyz).

K'boche Secours is a business that wants to break away from traditional marketing practices. K'boche Secours may be a business, but it's essentially "me". I want it to stay true to who I am and how I am.
Here is how I describe myself and my business in 4 statements :

  • Transparency as an ally.

When starting a business, transparency is encouraged, but not at any price. Some things are better left unsaid. I, for one, disagree. I opt for total transparency at the risk of losing sales. I don't want to hide things just because the information might make me look bad.
For example, my articles aren't perfect; there may be flaws, mistakes. I'm human, after all. That said, I work hard and I'm getting better every day. What's more, I'm always open to talk to anyone who has a problem with my products.

  • Accessibility is my mission.

I don't have a target market as such, but I want to reach as many people as possible. I know what it's like to be financially limited, to have to feed myself by sometimes using food banks, and I wouldn't wish that to anyone. I try to make products that are affordable and accessible to different social classes. I like to compare myself to a Dollarama, with the added bonus of service and quality. It's true that I offer items for more than $5, and if you consider my entire catalog, the price range is between $1 and $23, but the majority of products are sold between $4 and $7.
Unfortunately, with shipping costs, affordability is greatly diminished, but that's out of my control. For this reason, I'm proposing two meeting points (for a small fee), for those able to travel to Montreal.

  • Mental health issues as background.

As I'll explain in a little more detail below, mental health issues affect me personally, and I hope to make a difference in the lives of others dealing with such issues. Of course, my products will never replace medical help. If your condition requires it, don't hesitate to consult the various resources available in Quebec and elsewhere.
Here are a few resources:
Call Info-social 811 for help or information.
Contact your local CLSC or family doctor.
Contact a mental health professional (social worker, psychologist, psychotherapist, etc.).
To find a resource adapted to your situation, consult the repertory
Here.
If you're thinking about suicide, you can chat on suicide.ca, call 1 866 APPELLE (277-3553), or send a text message to 535353.
Call 911 in case of emergency.

  • The love of animals as a source of motivation.

K'boche Secours is all about the love of animals. All animals.

The cause of rabbits

Beyond myself, I hope that my creations will rescue any mind that needs it, including the rabbit's one! Yes, that is right, rabbits!

Too many of them are abandoned and suffer. Of course, no animal deserves to suffer, and their cause is close to my heart, but as part of my business plan, I've chosen to support two rabbit shelters.

For every item sold, I donate $1 to one of these two shelters: Betty's Rescue or ALSA. Customers can choose between these two shelters or leave the choice to me.

I chose these two shelters because my experience with them is A+.

Betty's Rescue is the shelter I do business with to get hay for my rabbits. If you're looking for a hay supplier, I recommend this one without hesitation. It's a horse hay with analysis, grown in Quebec. They offer two cuts of very good quality, which my rabbits love. Plus, by buying from them, you're helping them in their mission to save rabbits. They have so many little hearts in their care, waiting to find their forever home.

ALSA is the shelter that introduced me to the joys of fostering a rabbit in need. Some time ago, when my rabbit had just lost her brother, I wanted to find her a little companion. After fostering for 9 months, I finally adopted the rabbit I was taking care of. Throughout the process, the shelter supported and guided me. Like Betty's Rescue, they have many rabbits waiting to be adopted. To ease their financial burden, they also sell promotional items, hay, rabbit food and so on.

K'boche Secours aspires not only to rescue human minds, but those of rabbits too.

My mind, your mind, their minds... Everyone deserves a happy and healthy mind!

My mind

K'boche Secours was born out of a need to free my mind from its torments.
Just about everyone has their dark side and demons to fight. What's no big deal for someone can be hell for another. It's impossible to compare the mental suffering between people. We all have our own tolerance thresholds and defense mechanisms.

Personally, I suffer from generalized anxiety accompanied by frequent panic attacks. I may look fine on the outside, but on the inside I struggle a lot.

When anxiety is out of control and I can't handle it, I sometimes "relieve" it by hurting myself. Doctors said it is self-mutilation, but I disagree with the term. I don't cause myself any visible injury. My skin remains intact. I just cause pain to myself. Anyway, this behavior is inappropriate, and I'm aware of it.

An autism spectrum disorder (Asperger's) is also suspected, but the diagnosis has not yet been made.
Some people may find me strange or misfit, but it's simply that I don't see the world the same way they do. I am the way I am.

Since medication for my anxiety is nearly ineffective, and psychological follow-up is extremely complicated to obtain, I've found a way to ease my anxiety a little. Creating things, knitting and manipulating thousands of beads is therapeutic for me. It's not miraculous, I'm still going through a lot of hard times, but every little victory counts!

Whether your mind needs to be rescued or not, I'm sure you'll find something in here that will suit you.

I look forward to do business with you!
